SMOKING - The Best Way to Quit - Proven

These are the most effective ways to quit smoking according to Frank Schmidt and Chockalingam Viswesvaran of the University of Iowa.

This proof comes from their huge meta-analysis, studying and collating the results or more than 600 quit smoking studies covering over 70,000 people who wanted to stop smoking. This was one of the biggest and most thorough smoking cessation studies ever conducted.

The results were published in the prestigious Journal of Applied Psychology. They show the percentage of smokers reporting permanent cessation from the method analysed.
  1. Being told you're about to die if you don't quit (diagnosed with a serious cardiac disorder.) 42%
  2. Hypnosis with deep relaxation and suggestion. 36%
  3. Aversion Therapy. 31%
  4. Acupuncture. 24%
  5. Medication. 18%
  6. Nicotine Gum. 16%
  7. Self-help books or mail-order courses. 15%
  8. Advice from general medical practitioner. 7%
So the proof is clear. The only method better than Hypnosis at helping you quit smoking is if you're told by your doctor you've got serious heart problems and you'll die if you don't quit. That's a great motivation to quit smoking but not really very desirable! These people had life threatening illnesses aggravated by smoking, therefore had very strong incentive to stop.

The study into hypnosis used over 6000 subjects in 48 trials and gave results varying from 10% to 60%. The percentage given in the results of the study is an average figure.

Such a varied success rate (although much more successful than any other method) means that if you are considering quitting smoking you should be careful which hypnosis or hypnotherapy program you undertake. There are so many variable factors that it may be impossible to predict which program will work for you.

It's important to be comfortable with the hypnotist or hypnotherapist, of course, but there are also different types of hypnosis using different techniques, and including sometimes Neuro-Linguistic Programming and/or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy techniques.

It may take more than one attempt to find a quit smoking hypnotherapy program that successfully helps you quit smoking. It may be worth ensuring that whichever program you try has a money-back guarantee.

Although the statistical chances are that your chosen program WILL work for you, getting your money back if it doesn't will enable you to keep looking for an effective quit smoking hypnosis program, and finally be free of nicotine easily and forever.

Quitting smoking is the most worthwhile improvement you can make to your life. Quit now. And be happy!
